Porcelain veneers (laminates) were introduced back in 1983. They are effectively a facing of porcelain bonded on to the front surface of your teeth, like a false nail. They are used to whiten, straighten, close gaps, lengthen teeth etc. They can be used on one tooth or on all teeth in the smile. The porcelains available are extremely life-like and natural.
In the past, to achieve a good result, the teeth had to be prepared to avoid them looking bulky. This involves often removal of healthy teeth structure. We have been using a new system called Thineers® which are 0.3mm in thickness. i.e. like a contact lens. They involve virtually no preparation and we have achieved beautiful results.
